Frequently asked

The questions owners ask before they book.

If yours isn't answered here, send it on WhatsApp and we'll come back to you, usually within the hour.

How do I request a quote?

Message us on WhatsApp with where your pet is being collected from, where they're going, and what kind of animal they are. That's usually enough for us to send you a price the same day.

How are pets transported?

By road, in a secure and ventilated space sized to your animal. Your pet stays with us from your door to the destination door — no depots, no overnight holding, and never handed over to another company along the way. On long trips there are usually two of us in the vehicle, so one can drive while the other rests and the animals are never left on their own.

Can you transport puppies?

Yes, and we take extra care with them. Puppies travel warm, on soft bedding, with something that smells like their litter if the breeder can give us one. We stop more often and check on them along the way. Send us the collection date and we'll plan around it.

Can you transport cats?

Yes. Cats travel covered, in a quiet cabin, and we handle them as little as possible, because that's what actually keeps a cat calm. Cats that live together stay together. Tell us how many are travelling and we'll set the vehicle up properly.

Can I transport more than one pet?

Yes. Pets from the same home usually travel better together. Tell us how many are coming and what size they are so we can set the vehicle up with enough room for each of them, and we'll quote you for the trip.

Do you offer long-distance transport?

Yes, anywhere in South Africa. We run cross-province trips from Vanderbijlpark, planned around rest, water and the heat rather than the fastest possible arrival. On the long routes there are usually two of us, so the driving gets shared and nobody is behind the wheel tired. Send us both addresses and we'll work it out.

Will I hear from you during the trip?

Yes, without having to ask. We message you when we collect, at each stop, and when we arrive, usually with a photo. It's the thing customers mention most in their reviews.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Vanderbijlpark. We cover the Vaal Triangle and greater Gauteng for local trips, and the rest of the country for long-distance runs. If you're not sure whether your route works, just ask — the answer is usually yes.

How do I get hold of Black Leash?

WhatsApp is the quickest way, on 071 154 4354. You'll be talking to us directly, not a call centre. Email works too, at blackleashcouriers@gmail.com, it's just slower.

Tell us where they need to be.

Send us the collection address, the destination, and what kind of animal is travelling. That’s usually all we need to send you a price the same day.
